Doctor Who possibly filming in Australia

Might end up being a rumour, but Australia's leading TV Blog had heard that DW may be filming down under next year. This may or may not happen but sounds like an interesting possibility.

What do you think? What could the episode(s) entail?

Interesting, I actually mentioned that they could possibly film in Australia given it's massive fan base, and the filming in the US last year. Now it looks like a possibility although I will point out that mid-2012 filming would probablly still be for the 2012 series given the delayed filming start.

I was thinking the same thing, they probably wouldn't start filming for anything in the 2013 series til much later on next year. It'd be an interesting story i'm sure, there's so many places they could film in Australia, perhaps Tegan Jovanka could make a return visit?

My family live in Australia and they have noticed that there's been a lot more hype about Doctor Who related stuff recently.

There's always been a lot of hype, Australia is one of the oldest Doctor Who fan bases out there. They've been fans since the mid sixties and have huge audiences although there is no way of telling what it is as they do not have as good an audience research organisation as other coutnries do but the measurements they do get from the main five cities seem very good.

That's quite interesting really, i have friends who are Australian and they have all heard of Doctor Who and love it, yet i have friends much closer to the UK in Europe who have never heard of it. One of them in Denmark only knows of it because the Danish tv companies showed Tom Baker's episodes due to their popularity. It's interesting how it appeals to some nations and not others.

There's been no confirmation from Moffo that the 2012 series will be split, with the first half in 2012, and the second in 2013... He's literally denied it now, and has said there might be a full series in 2012.

It is the English speaking world that it is more popular in, especially members of the Commonwealth as they got the episodes a few years after initial broadcast so poularity tended to boom because of it.

Of course it is popular in other countries but it tends to lose it's popularity after translations although some countries get it right and it is massively popular, many Western European countries are having the show's popularity boom, especially France.

Exactly, as he said there has been a lot of misquoting going on. He said it was being seriously considered at one point but he decided against it on the grounds that he didn't want any Spring broadcasting.

If a story as to be set in Australia, then have it way in the future, where it as been devastated, and looks like a quarry in southern England, simple reality check there is a worldwide recession, the money is not available to go galavanting around Australia.

She says she'll try and get an Australian episode. Might not be there when it's made but you never know.
