TED just read SM interview about the Daleks, where does he say Because of this he decided that perhaps all the different Dalek types do still exist, and fight out there little wars when different groups break off etc. but every Dalek type is still out there, working for one group or ruling over another in a massive hierarchy. Not his exact words but that's the basic idea of it.

He just mentions the Supreme Dalek from Planet turning up to take control.

Colours aside there are (as far as we know) a maximum of FOUR Dalek factions.

Skaro Daleks: silver, grey, grey and black.... whatever colour... these are the original race from Skaro. Latterly called Renegades due to the fact that the Imperial Daleks chased them off Skaro.
Imperials: created originally on Necros using terminally ill patients these are not of the same race as the Skaro Daleks, and are at war with them.
Time War Daleks: these may or may not be Imperial Daleks, but they are certainly not Skaro Daleks (Likewise the fleet from "Stolen Earth" are cloned from Davros' own cells, so could effectively be a FIFTH faction)
New Paradigm: cloned from Skaro Dalek DNA, so are actually INFERIOR to the original Daleks from Skaro... clones are after all copies.

Unless the writer knows his Dalek history bringing all of these various factions together is going to be a headache... unless of course he is extremely naiive and thinks "Power" Daleks are different from "Destiny" Daleks: both are Skaro Daleks but come from different periods in their history.
However it seems that it's going to be a case of "ooh look, lots of different Daleks"
