Remember the "David Tennant as Hamlet" figure I did a year ago? I have done another one.
Here he is in his white Navy uniform from the theatre play "Much Ado about Nothing", I saw this live in London.

Image

Image

And this is how I did it:
First I took off the jacket. He looked like this under it:

Image

Guess I'll have to do something about this backside of him!

Image

Again I had to cut the jacket sleeves to make bare arms. Then I added all the necessary things - everything that is white is made with Milliput - shirt collar, epaulettes, shirt pockets, short sleeves, and I also filled up the ribs a bit, as the white shirt was not THAT tight.

Image

Then I gave him a wrist watch, and a belt buckle including belt loops.

Image

Image

With some added color it looks like this:

Image

Image

I even put in some creases, just like the original:

Image

This was the picture I was going by:

Image

Not sure what to do with the hair - it should be more combed back, I also would need to remove the sideburns, but I am not sure if I dare to touch his face. I am afraid of messing up.

In any case, the backside looks better now too:

Image

The epaulettes didn't want to cooperate, though. No chance to paint them directly at the figure. I had to do many tries at black paper (with a thin needle instead of a brush) and then glue the best of them on.

Image

The golf cart I got very cheap at ebay. It is too small of course. There would be an in-scale one as well, but that shall be 50 USD plus 40 USD for shipping, and that is a bit too much just for fun. So unfortunately I cannot sit David inside, the way he arrived on stage.

The flags I made from paper, with a pin. The suitcase is from the little Amelia figure, and the hat was once on a chocolate duck, if I remember right... many years ago.

Image

My next projects are the complete white uniform, with jacket, sash and sword (from the end of the play), and the blue Superman shirt from that famous scene.

An ordinary day in the Hub. Myfanwy is flying around.

Image

Gwen and Tosh are working on their stations.

Image

Ianto is cleaning.

Image

Look at that mess!

Image

Apparently they had pizza and donuts.

Image

Jack is - reading a book?!?

Image

Actually he is supposed to work on those reports - but he's reading.

Image

He likes to read and has a whole book shelf.

Image

Finally Gwen demands that he gets off his seat, because the rift monitor is making funny noises.

Image

But Jack tells her she's in charge today and turns another page.

Image

Gwen and Ianto catch a Weevil.

Image

Jack keeps reading.

Image

The Hub's overrun by scary creatures who want to overtake the world.

Image

Everyone gives their best to fight them.

Image

Image

Image

Jack keeps reading.

Image

Finally they have enough. They demand to know what this is all about.

Image

Gwen flicks through the pages - what's so special with this book?

Image

So Jack tells them.
"This a new book by that cute guy John Barrowman and his sister Carole. It's called 'Hollow Earth'. It's a sci-fi novel for young people. It's about twelve-year-old twins Matt and Em who can make their drawings come to life and get into the pictures themselves. People who can do that are called animaires."

Image

"And I wonder how they know about them. It's not just sci-fi, they are real, I once met them. We have to go and retcon these Barrowman people. Are you coming, guys?"

Image

"Guys?"

Image

"Um, guys?!?!?"

Image

Gwen distractedly waves Jack away with one hand and says: "You go alone, it just became very suspenseful, I have to read on." Ianto demands that Gwen reads it out loud to them and Tosh has spotted that two more books are planned. "We can't retcon them, Jack, not at least till they have written the rest! And there also probably shall be a tv series or even a movie..."

Image

Jack groans.

From different places. For starters, there are online shops where you can buy miniature stuff. This is not for children to play with, but for adults who want to decorate puppet houses. Also there is stuff for little shops or school or Doctor office, whatever. Some of it is quite expensive and handmade. You can get EVERYTHING in miniature. That's where I got the desk from for example.

The monitors came with some Primeval figures. Some of the stuff on Jack's desk and the replicators are from my Stargate figures. The books made a friend for me. Myfanwy I bought in Cardiff in the National Museum.

Wherever I go, when I see something small, I start to think whether I can use it for my figures. Often also keyrings with things have the right size.

Why? Because of money, or because you are not "adult" yet?

Just so that you can have a look what is out there - here is a shop where I frequently buy: http://the-special-shop.com/EN_shop.asp?shopneu=

I have been asked for a sequel to the Hollow Earth story. I happily comply but not without reiterating that of course all credit for the original idea and making of the book still goes to Snow. *hugs*

And now please have fun seeing "Hollow Earth" going international, if not universal.

Washington, D.C.:

FBI Agent Scully examinates something very strange.
"Mulder, I've never seen anything like this before, I really need your help here!"

Image

"...Mulder?!?"
But Mulder is reading a book.

Image

Stargate-Center, Cheyenne Mountain, Colorado Springs, Colorado:

Major Samantha Carter, Dr. Daniel Jackson and Teal'c are ready for their mission to planet P3X-877. But their leader is still missing.
"Colonel O'Neill, where are you?"

Image

"...Colonel?!?"
"...Jack?!?"
"...O'Neill?!?"
But Jack O'Neill is reading a book.

Image

Somewhere in the United States:

Batman is having a hard time against the Terminator.
"Superman, I really could need your help here!!!"

Image

"...Superman?!?"
But Superman is reading a book.

Image

Somewhere in the Universe:

Martha, Donna and Rose want to have fun together.
"Doctor, you promised to show us the Universe. We're ready to go, are you coming?"

Image

"...Doctor?!?"
But the Doctor is reading a book.

Image

Meanwhile in Cardiff, Wales:

Image

Jack has to realize that he comes too late with retconning the authors. The line for the official book signing with John Barrowman in Cardiff is hundreds of meters long.

Image

Image

There are grandmothers with grandkids, mothers with children, men and women of all ages.

Image

And everyone brought their own copy of the book.

Image

It's too much, he can't retcon them all. He has to accept that the story of the Animares will be out there forever - but hopefully it also will remain to be just a fairytale.

THE END

And here a glance at behind the scenes. If you want to know how I did the wirework for the flying Superman (and also Myfanwy in the previous post) - I used my kitchen shelf:

Thank you, glad you like it!
Sorry, can't tell you where to get such a lava lamp. I got this among other stuff from someone from America, he sent me a parcel with things I might find useful. I don't have contact to him anymore so I cannot ask. You can only do an online search vor "miniature lava lamp" and hope something turns up one day.

How about this, for example? lava lamp phone charm
