Quatermass

I would love a 5" Pit (film) Col. Breen as played by Julian Glover. That might be the closest we get to a Scaroth as well. :)

Similarly, a Pit (film) Rooney (James Donald) figure would also do for those Bridge On The River Kwai or The Great Escape fans.

The Pit film spacecraft is quite nice too. I suppose it's all a bit niche to do figures for the series or films, but it would be nice to have.

Oh, and yes, I did watch that film again last night. ;)

Just wanted to add, Bridge On The River Kwai would be nice to see a Sir Alec Guinness figure other than Obi-Wan Kenobi for once.

Him with battered khaki fatigues and stick would be kinda cool. Maybe a plunger accessory too. :D

Have you ever seen Rememberance of the Daleks? Quatermass happens in the same universe as Doctor Who does so it's entirely possible.

You think it likely that I have never seen RotD? Coming off the Ace thread, this statement is a little amusing. ;)

I agree that the dialogue is inclusive, and I would choose to interpret it as confirmation of a common universe for both, and have even expressed that view in another thread somewhere.

The Ace reference is a little less substantial as there's an active continuity conflict. Quatermass is easier to incorporate into DW as a whole.

I remember that post. What I don't like about the Quatermass comment is that it was included as a joke. A gag if you will. And what I don't like are these young people who take every word uttered on screen as some etched in stone law and not using their own mind to infer things on their own.

Quartermass does not happen in the Doctor Who universe. The comment is a homage. I know you understand this, Thete and I see where your love for Quartermass would just love to have those characters included in both. Only natrual. So that's cool!

I'll give a you a great example. In E.T the Extra Terriestrial, ET recognizes a kid in a Yoda costume. Years later, ET's race show up in a clip in Star Wars Episode I: The Phamtom Menace. Now does this mean both movies exist in the same universe cause it explains how ET would know this iconic image of the Jedi Master? Or could we just say it was both film makers paying homage to one another and just laugh and treat it like it is?

Oh, I know, and don't assume my statement to be that I would arbitrarily choose to include the "Q-niverse" ®©™ (Thete) if, say rights were not at play, I were DW producer, or something.

I feel that gag, as you put it, has a little more weight than the comedic ET reference you point out. I also happen to feel that aside from BRG comment, Q has a visual influence on the episode as well.

It's not as great a stretch to include this continuity within DW. Most certainly not if some still consider Faction Paradox to be (ick).

And I agree that's why the comment was made in the first place, cause it does have that Quartermass feel to it.

They could have been awesome!

We younger fans have every right to take every word on screen as true. As do the older fans. If these books are canon then why on earth does the Doctor sometimes go through exactly the same events with exactly the same characters twice like in Human Nature? The show comes first for canon not books.
