can't think of any other notable real world vehicles in the show. U.N.I.T. vehicles might be a way to shoe in some characters CO seem reluctant to produce.

was the rumour of a set with Bessie and 4th Doctor based on any truth or was it just a piece of planted misinformation?

Personally I don't like Bessie. I'm not a fan of vintage cars and certainly not bright yellow ones. That's not to say I wouldn't buy one if it was made but I'd much rather have the Whomobile or 'The Alien' as it was really known. A vehicle that can hover over land and water and fly as well is preferable to something that looks like the poor relation of chitty chitty bang bang. I know the Whomobile looks like it should have been in something like U.F.O. rather than Doctor Who but in terms of fun toys to whoosh round your house it fits the bill perfectly.
