No the real one, it's just because it was mistaken for a boat (I know it could work as both but it could have been problematic).

Dapol was the first and only time I got to see the real Whomobile at the exhibition. The guy that owned it brought it along to one of the special open days that they used to have. I didn't even know it was going to be there!
I've never heard of it turning up to any other event since, so I was very lucky to see it indeed.
Even got to sit in it! It was magnificent!! :D

Yes, gone into hiding, not sure why though? It hasn't been to any Doctor Who related function anyway since 1996, when I saw it at Llangollen.
Shame really :(

Just done some digging on my own and have got some sort of fate of what happened to her:

So, what happened to the car? Well, it wasn't ever the property of the Beeb - the car was always Jon's. After the show it ended up on a trailer and was becoming a bit of a burden. In the end it was put in a car auction in the early 1980s and was bought - for £1700 - by someone who was purchasing the car for his son. The car is now in a secure location in the UK and hasn't seen the light of day since 1996.

He would then borrow it back for Special Events. According to a BBC interview in December 2003 Farries states that the car was eventually sold at a car auction for £1,200 after being mistaken for a motorboat

It sat at the entranceat the Dr Who exhibition in Llangollen years ago. Edward Mann wrote on Yahoo Answers in 2006 that he took photos of it at a custom show years ago. I would love to have scans of his photos...

And from what I can see its current location is in Australia but hasn't seen the light of day at conventions etc since 1996, though that would backfire on the 2006 statement.

It is a shame really, maybe one day she will emerge again but today is seems she is pretty much lost.

Yes, it sat at the entrance to the factory but only for one day on August Bank Holiday 1996. It was privately owned and not part of the BBC collection housed inside the exhibition. I chatted to the guy that owned it, nice fellow too.
That was its last Dr.Who connected appearance, though as you say it may have gone to one or two custom car shows afterwards.
I've got a photo that I took of Sylvester McCoy sitting in it somewhere.

I'm curious to see how it was mistakenly sold as a motor boat after 1996, when the guy that brought it along to Dapol knew exactly what it was from? Perhaps it changed hands yet again between those times?

As I remember, it was originally given away by Jon Pertwee in the late 70's to a young boy who recently lost his mother, on condition that if asked, he'd loan it back to Jon for summer fetes and other personal appearances.
What a star!
