I know it's unlikely and would be a bit of a hassle for Character, but I really wish there WOULD be a more significant costume variant for 13. (No, I'm not counting prison fatigues OR one offs/special occasions. That said, I bet people would buy a "Spyfall" suit variant- They even promoted that look heavily! - or even a Villa Diodati slumber party look. Seriously, those are the only 2 I can think of.)joe38658 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 4:27 pmWas thinking theres one more possible 13 variant with no new sculpts. In "Can You Hear Me?", she wears darker blue trousers with a light blue top. It would keep the US light blue top figure exclusive but also giving us a new variant. (Plus the darker blue trousers look alot better)
We're at Nathan-Turner levels of outfit stagnancy, and that....well, I guess some people like that sort of thing. But part of what made (particularly) Tennant and Capaldi more real characters to me is that they actually changed clothes. Sometimes they were clearly ready for business, sometimes they looked a bit more relaxed, sometimes they clearly didn't plan on company. But it definitely made them more nuanced and real. 11 and 9 (the latter we only see on 9 separate occasions) were a bit more regimented, sure. But not to this extent.
(This probably is why 3 & 4 play better on rewatch for me too; And in fairness at least Graham, Yaz, & Ryan aren't pulling a Season 19 and actually do their laundry.)
Consider too: For some of us, an 11 with a different shirt/bowtie color is a legit variant/purchase. For many "not-we", that's a pass or the same figure as another paint variant. We see 13 variants, others might see one figure or just a need to buy their favourite colour set.
Basically: I guess they CAN do more variants with the existing figure, but I just wish there was more reason to do full 13 variants.
