On-line ordering has made getting these so simple. Running around all the B&M stores and up and down the aisles, I swear it's like a jungle sometimes, It makes me wonder how I keep from goin' under...

Plus at 5000 units (which I believe is the same as the B&M waves?) which are apparently close to selling through this is a success on both fronts, easy to acquire for the fans and selling in high enough numbers to warrant more sets.

I'm interested to see what sets go to CO online and which go to B&M in the future and what the distinction between the two are.

I guess maybe more obscure/less generally appealing figures would be online exclusives? Although I imagine the Mechanus Daleks would have sold just as well as the rest of the B&M Daleks at B&M I suppose you've got to make sure they don't get Dalek overload.

Has anyone noticed that the box is bigger than the boxes we have had before?

I wonder if perhaps its the stuff that costs a little more to make, these daleks have new parts which no b&m daleks have had, and sokd at a slight price mark-up. Perhaps thats going to be the model, something a little above the cost of what the b&m sets can do, but something with a high demand from the collectors so the price can be adjusted accordingly, making enough to justify the cost of production but few enough that they all sell. Seems from this one that theyve successfully hit that sweet spot, so if that's how they do things moving forward I'm going to be all the way onboard for that.

All of the £25.00 from the sale of these goes to CO, whereas B&M have to make a worthwhile profit on what they sell so CO will get considerably less than the £20.00 retail the B&M sets sell for. So CO could spend a lot more on making these sets and still probably come out with a better margin than on the B&M sets. I expect figure wise, anything that comes out of the on-line exclusives will be designed with re-use for B&M sets in the future too.

I mean, this was a 'safe' first test of the waters-

*Daleks, with identical figures in a 2 pack.
*Movie style Daleks, so a niche that exists and wasn't ever addressed
*Parts that easily can be reused, with much already existing

If it flopped, well, it's something that probably would've still trickled in sales. As it stands, a likely sellout with direct sales? Hopefully it encourages some new moulds, or wraps at the least on future exclusive.

Where would I hope to see this go?

*More Daleks (Unique arms, etc. Some kind of Emperor would be the best, but an understandable longshot.)

*TARDIS console (Classic mostly, there's some reuse opportunity 63-80, or 80-89. 2 moulds could pretty much accommodate every Doctor with paint app changes, rotor change out, and slight panel inaccuracy - no moreso than we're used to with the TARDIS releases.)

*Cybermen. (We've not had a new one - barring a boot swap - in 7 years. Whether Classic - "Wheel" - or New Series - a 2013 body would actually easily furnish Series 12 opportunities too - they're a strong fan interest with reuse opps.)

I'd welcome totally unique Doctor variants with partial reuses (Fur Coat 2, Hatted 2, aged Leisure Hive 4, for example) or new companions that need substantial new bits (Jamie, Nyssa, etc) but I do get this requires a strong sales response with broad appeal to continue. But I think my prior 3 examples would have that, hopefully.
