I only ask because I've noticed these crowdfunded toys tend to be big-ticket items, not smaller things like TARDISES. And that's probably the price point they'd be asking for a play set if they followed a Hasbro Labs or Matty Collector model.

Jaba's sail barge was something like $500, and the Castle Grayskull set was... I forget. $200? $300? Nice sets if you can afford them.

I figured $500 was better spent than that. And I also figured I had no idea where I'd put a giant sail barge unless I turned it into a coffee table.

It's a fair point skiffle, certainly if it were only big expensive sets I wouldn't go in for it. £20 plus P&P would really be my limit, unless it's something so amazing like a Jamie, then I might just force myself to £30. Back in the days when I could get these sets as gifts for xmas or something it would be easier, why waste my money when I could waste someone else's ;) . But now I'm much more tight on prices of these figures.

Some funds are for single figures like this https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ge ... n%20figure

I have no idea though what is actually involved in crowdfunding and wonder if there could be a lot of potential pitfalls that a company would want to avoid, hence dealing directly with a big concern like B&M?

I’d invent a machine that can emit radiation that makes everyone in the world love Laszlo.

Imagine it - A wave of assorted Laszlo Action Figures, B&M Laszlo Three packs, an RC Laszlo, Laszlo’s sewer house playset and of course The Thirteen Laszlos set!

That's interesting. It says "Glyos compatible," so I had to look up what Glyos was. I'd seen those figures before but hadn't realized what they were.

I think it's the uncertainty that scares most companies off. You have a deal with a retailer, you know how much money is coming in up front, how big the lot will be, etc. With a kickstarter, you never know, and you still have to put a bunch of employee resources toward setting it up and monitoring it.

It's also probably easier to tell a factory to make 5,000 of something than it is to make, say, 8,810 of something.

All speculation on my part, 'course.

Can’t someone here just learn mind control powers, find a millionaire who can fun the production of new figures, and boom bada boom there we go?

This would lead to a Cassandra three pack 'The Life Stages of Cassandra' an instant best seller.
