That was for the last series, he was considered for A Good Man Goes to War but it clashed with filming schedules. It's like the Omega rumour, it made sense at one point, but after a while it became clear it wasn't happenign but people carried on hoping it would happen.

It's likely it will happen soon though, why else would they use omega for the logo of loads of stuff

Loads of stuff? It has appeared with one group, who were breifly affiliated with the Silence who have made two appearances on the show. When it was believed that Omega was The Silence it was a possibility (after all who would have the power and motivation to blow up a TARDIS) but it has since become clear that the Silence is just a religious order who live in fear of the rise of the Valeyard and will do anything to stop it coming about, even if it means wiping themselves and the rest of creation from history for their beliefs (think suicide bombers but far more extreme).

So it's confirmed that the Valeyard is at the back of this? He/it could be appearing?

It's a 'technically correct' but unlikely to happen theory.

Ah. I hope it's not. I hope the Silence ends on a brand new 'ending' instead of 'the return of an old enemy', and all that jazz...

Yes, also I believe Stephen has said about targeting both fans and casual viewers alike so having a story arc for a lesser known monster wouldn't target newer viewers as well.

He has already shown up, or if not him then his "older brother" has. However, due to the nature of the character this is an extremly long term plot arc, which won't really kick off until the Twelfth Doctor at the earliest.

Certainly it is the direction the show is going in, with episodes such as Amy's Choice, A Good Man Goes to War and The God Complex bringing the ultimate consequences of the Doctor's actions to light. This theme has been developing since after Trial of a Time Lord and has continued to this day in various different ways through different writers although very few are adding to it deliberately. At the end of the day.

If you want to start questioning barely known monsters then you have to start asking about the Nimon's cousin showing up in The God Complex, because amongst the casual viewing public only the Daleks and Cybermen are known and possibly The Master at a push because of how much we all go on about him, so it would not make much difference, we know what Moffat's ultimate motives are and the way the plot arc is written there is every chance he could leave it hanging for his sucessor to deal with.

I still don't see why the Doctor couldn't go back the the library and pull River's conciousness out of the machine. It's the Doctor, he could do it. Heck if I could think of it, I'm sure that the Moff has.

And yeah, the "Silence" in the Library is too coincidental. There's something else going on there.

I wouldn't mind seeing The Doctor go back to the library! :D
