A lot of Target books do this. Invasion of the Dinosaurs is written so... vague that sometimes I wonder if the Target Book was written with the fourth Doctor in mind instead of the 3rd.
And in the Tenth Planet the Doctor emerges from a rejuvenation tank as the second Doctor inside the TARDIS.

Thread resurrection time: I'm currently halfway through Doctor Who and the Cybermen, the adaptation of The Moonbase, and really enjoying it. Haven't read it since the mid-1980s, when I borrowed it from my local library.

You have good taste, sir.

Finished it this morning, and it was great! I've got Doctor Who and the Abominable Snowmen lined up next.

I got four of these yesterday.
I was going to pass on them, as I used to have an almost complete set, and I must have dumped them at some point. However, the Doctor Who and the DALEKS novel appeared in the school library so, I picked it up and started reading it. The librarian, who knows I like Who, said she could get some more in. So.. That was that. Four arrived yesterday. I even started reading one! The Auton Invasion. I did like RTDs introduction,

I think that one's next, or next-but-one, in my pile.
