There is a classic irony.
Back in the day, the vast majority of viewers only had BW TVs, so there are very few people who ever saw this in color anyway !!

True, by 1975 only 50% of the UK viewers had a colour television. But still the option was available for those who could see it so it is a shame these two episodes are in such a state. With Invasion of the Dinosaurs, they admitted could have been done far better, but they simply could not afford the better technology to upgrade their blue approximation further and being stuck with a black, white, red and green screen might seem a bit odd to some people so the black and white option was left as default.

Babelcolour is apparently making the colourisation for The Mind of Evil's first episode as the chroma dots are completely missing. Of course they will probablly leave the black and white as default as per Invasion of the Dinosaurs and give the digitally colourised option as an extra.

It's better than nothing, but it does act as a reminder of the history of these episodes and the tragedy of the wiping. There may be episodes without visual footage of any form but these exist at a strange halfway state where we have them visually but not as they should be. The Pertwee era was very badly hit by the wiping as well, it was just fortunate that they stopped when they did and the Pertwee stories were still being sold overseas so Enterprises still had all but one of their film copies (even if they were in black and white).

Looks like next up after the Ace set and the DALEK (City of the) story will be the last 7th Doctor story and the last full first Doctor story. "Greatest Show in the Galaxy" and "Planet of Giants".

I thought that had been mentioned earlier.
I'm not keen on 2E wasting time and effort on re-releasing stuff like Vengeance - it's not even like it's out of stock from it's initial release.

The problem is, what else are they going to spend their time on. There's only a few stories left now.
