Inferno was already a fairly tidy two disc presentation. I'm with Ian on this - 2E should concentrate their efforts on developing ways to present missing eps from almost complete stories, rather than wasting time on re-releasing product that is still available.
Anyways - My Ace set should be here this week. The DWM arrived today, so I had a chance to read all about the release and see what wondrous features I'd be presented with; an interview with the Candyman !!!

The problem is and always will be time and money. You'll probablly find that they have an exclusive deal with Theta Sigma/Big Finish for animation now. Now The Reign of Terror has been finished they will likely have begun work on The Ice Warriors. We know they are hoping for The Tenth Planet, and hopefully a few other stories can be made as well (The Crusade, Mission to the Unknown, The Underwater Menace and The Moonbase could all be done within the two episode reconstruction limit that seems to have been set in place).

When you say Animate, do you mean that the DVD will consist of Cartoon characters because the origional film was lost?

(Sorry, i'm not very up to date with all the ways the Classics are released)

Yes, the missing episodes will be replaced with as you put it "cartoons".

The process was used on The Invasion in 2006, and has now been completed on The Reign of Terror (which is due to be released at the end of the year) and work had now begun on The Ice Warriors (which we suspect will also have this treatment).

So is 'The Invasion' The only Classic DVD with animated episodes so far? And do all the episodes on one DVD get animated or are some episodes the real film.

At the moment it is, The Reign of Terror will be the next one and is due out at the end of the year. The company that did The Invasion had quite a bit of trouble so they couldn't continue so its taken six years to find another group to do it (animators Theta Sigma, alongside audio producers Big Finish who the BBC have worked with on cartoons of some of their plays in the past).

In these, they take the actual episodes that are known to exist and just reanimate the missing ones. The animation is very time consuming, so they are only considering stories with up to two missing episodes at the moment. The Ice Warriors has begun work now so it is speculated that it will include animation and they are hoping to get The Tenth Planet out before the 50th so hopefully they can get episode four animated as well.

There have been some rumours that they want to animate The Underwater Menace now they have found another episode which makes it far more affordable to make, and it would also be possible to release The Crusade, Mission to the Unknown and The Moonbase.

Well its just the first episode so it will be the first episode you watch on the DVD anyway.

Also, Ian, do you know who was doing The Power of the Daleks? Was it Cosgrove Hall? Might explain why we never saw it and they are avoiding longer stories.
