Nooooo really? I would never have known there's a difference in 9 inches as opposed to five...

Then it can't be the same mould can it.

:)

Unless it's digital.... and the 4th Doc sculpts were physical.
I've just about had enough of you. Go that way. You'll be malfunctioning within a day, you near-sighted scrap pile. And don't let me catch you following me begging for help because you won't get it.

Sure it can! You of all people should know most prototypes are sculpted in various sizes. It's how ToyBiz and Mattel make their 12 inch roto cast of figures they have in 3&3/4 and 6 inch sizes. Same with the Marvel Universe figures and DC Universe figures, the 3&3/4 are the same molds as the 6 & 7 inch figures just scaled down.

So yes, it can very well be the same damn mold.

Dragon models did something similar - they produced a British Airborne Welbike in 1/6 scale and simply reduced it to 1/35 for a set of figures. Okay not a toy, but same principle. Tamiya also reduced a lot of their 1/35 model figures down to 1/48.
Preiser also do that for their figures, 1/24 down to 1/200... same figures just reduced in size.

No, it's a perfect example...

I think you are mixing sculpt with mould.

The sculpt is an significant cost but the actual injection moulding steel tool is far more costly. This is why 'cutting steel' is a significant milestone and one not to be taken lightly. We are talking tens of thousands of dollars for a figure. The sculpt maybe a couple of thousand?

So taking a sculpt and making it at a different size is still very costly. So you should not feel cheated when companies do that. You've still had your pound of flesh.

And Fusion is right, I know I'm meaning sculpt when I say mold in this thread... I usualy just lump the two together.

I nearly got this in Model Zone for £30 but opted not to get it and went to Woolworths and spent it on the CO figures instead :? A really nice set though, I'de snap it up only I don't paticularly collect the 'classic' stuffs :)
