Depends on your angle really, it may appear cheaper but there are some things that are not as good (huge quantities of out of date food for example).

Dude out of date food isn't always bad. The FSA tend to declare food out of date about 4 days or so before it really is out of date. Especially Chocolate and crisps. Meat be more careful with and Dairy I'd always follow the labels but anything else tends to be safe. Ie fruit and veg and pasta.

But when it's two litre of tomato ketchup (which was the one I saw) and over a month out of date, it isn't any good.

There are some things though where best before dates are not real like water and some types of cheese interestingly enough.

My favourite example is Salt. Salt never runs out of date, it's already millions years old.

I mean cmon half of it is bullcrap.

They were talking about it on QI a while back about how some types of cheese will say "twenty years matured" and yet it has a best before date next week, why release it one week before it goes off if it can clearly last twenty years?

It's the fault of EU laws (but these ones are real, not one of the made up ones like "No Conkers" or "Baa baa rainbow sheep" that is the British press at it's best ).

I don't care what they say Baa Baa Black Sheep isn't racist. Neither are gollywogs or singing Kung-Fu Fighting.
