Yes he was a brilliant actor, and probablly the best of all the Masters. It's a shame he never got his proper final story and ended up with Frontier in Space (a story where, to quote the cover blurb of the Target novel "Only when the Master appears on the scene do things really begin to move").

He could make a dreradul story good to the extent that some poorer stories jokingly mention an "inspector from Earth" is coming to make you think he's going to show up to make it good (I'm looking at you The Mutants).

Yeah he was brilliant, and Frontier in space ended so abruptly which is a shame. Would either have loved to see the "Final Game" where Delgado and Pertwee would both have left in a blaze of glory, or to have seen Delgado against Baker, just once, just to watch how those two would have interracted. Such a shame.

By the sounds of things The End of Time was inspired by that unmade story (although several things were changed like the addition of the Time Lords). It seems very interesting how that would have worked with Pertwee and Degaldo.

I may pre-order this. The only way I can get my Delgado fix is The Sea Devils, which I've watched to death
