'Silence in the Library'...

Hmm... A lot of people have picked up on that. It's certainly not a match to what happens in the story; so maybe something else happens there in an alternate timeline with the Silence...? ;)

Except she doesn't have a body any more, all that is left is a footprint, on a beach, the only difference is the Doctor has dug it up and kept the footprint safe, but it can never become the person again.

Besides, that was the end of River's tale, the end needs to be in place, as any writer will tell you otherwise your story will be pretty rubbish, the middle is the unstable bit that can go all over the place but the beginning and end (or end and beginning in this case) need to be kept the same way.

Besides, as we know now River was a member of the Silence once upon a time, so there was Silence in the library if you want to get echnical, but this was written long before Moffat began work on 11.1, he wrote The Eleventh Hour and The TIme of Angels/Flesh and Stone in the months that followed broadcast of the story in question, so any connections were made after the event not during it.

Although I hope that's the case this is Moffat so he could bring her back, though I really hope he dosen't.

He's already made it pretty clear that this was the case, she is dead and gone, it doesn't mean they have finished with her story, of course they haven't there are plenty of other Doctors she has encountered as well (in both directions interestingly enough, so why the Tenth couldn't remember her is rather odd).

it was most probably called 'silence in the libary' to play on the common rule.

Wibly wobbly and all that I guess.
However Moffat saying she is dead and buried means nothing, RTD killed off the Master and look how that went. As River is part Time lord a similar resurrection could take place should he choose.

River is the child of the TARDIS. I'm sure Idris'll find a way about it. ;)

"Idris" the woman who was the shell for our lovely TARDIS won't be mentioned again, nor do I think the Doctor shall ever "talk" to his TARDIS and have her respond in a like manner.

BUT it's very clear to me that in the subsequent episodes he's communicating with her on a whole other level that he hadn't even considered before. Perhaps he never realized she had feelings...In fact I think that may be the Doctor's major achilles heel...feelings. Not his...others. I dunno...I'm still slogging through classic episodes and haven't seen nearly enough to make an educated judgement.

I could second this!
