Well go and listen to the interview they gave on this very site, they said they will be making their own standard bodies and selling them.

Perhaps that is why they have come into financial difficulties.

You can see the logic though. If you use 'standard' bodies don't you have to buy them from whoever is making them? After tooling, your own costs start coming down, buying in a third party item would just cost more.

And then they get individual sales of their own rather than sending people to other companies to buy them. It also allows them to personally adapt them to their own requirements.

I disagree.
Standard body types exist. Designed to be sold to 12" toy manufacturers.
These are designed in a range of physical types. Feet, hands and heads are all any company has to then design and tool up for. Of course, HTs Hulk has to be a complete build!!!
The whole concept of standard parts in the manufacturing industry is to keep design and tooling costs down.

CO tooled our own bodies rather than buying off the shelf, so the sums must have pointed to that as being the most cost effective solution.

When CO made 12" figures they were aiming at the el-cheapo market, hence the rather flimsy light weight body type put together. I gather this range didn't make money, hence it was discontinued.

The Martha was well made - I have to give CO that. The best in the range, and the best thing that CO have made (from a production point of view) in their entire Who line.

We found that the market wouldn't support the figures in the mass numbers that were needed. 12" figures take up a lot of room so only a very limited number of people end up collecting them. I think they were pretty good for the price. The Judoon and Hame were my favourites.
