Ark in Space has new CGI fx so maybe they will leave that. I would love to see a special edition of Genesis of the Daleks with CGI City Daleks (the Daleks/The Dead planet). I seen someone had done it on Youtube but its been removed, perhaps the BBC didn't like it.

Yeah stuff like that would be great!I'd like to see The Deadly Assassin revisited with added optional CGI scenes, basically what was done in Star Trek Remastered when they visited Vulcan in Amok Time, they created a stunning Vista with a city in the Background. They could give us something akin to what was seen in the new series but with a little more thought to the classic series and somehow making the Panopticon seem larger than what it actually is. I'm sure they could come up with a way.

Got to admit, I love my Trek Remastered set. Some of those episode effects are really good. Favorites include the aforementioned Vulcan lanscape, and the Tholian web.
The Ark in Space was actually an early release. The effects down were quite good, and a bit of a surprise at the time. The Day of the DALEKS story has had the most post done to it, and it looks all the better for it.
Although I have enjoyed the extra work done, I am still torn between the should they - shouldn't they do it though.

You do get both editions. Unlike the Star Wars releases you never get the original release.

As long as you get to chose, that's the main thing :)

That's a good point. You don't on the Treks, but I have the ditaly remastered DVD set as well - so I can choose. But for these I always watch the newer ones with added effects.

Well apart from The Dalek Invasion of Earth (where one of their CGI effects got put into the unedited version) or The Web Planet where they started messing around with the sound effects.

There is a point where you go too far with it (like sticking Graham Norton's voice over the beginning of Rose, for goodness sake do any of those idiot's realise that only they were affected by it? Sure it's annoying but some of us did get it broadcasted as intended so stop going on about it because your end messed up, but then again many people in that part of England act like that anyway).

I reckon i'll let that slip, on the whole they've been pretty good and i've never really been dissapointed with any of their releases.

Recently I have. Example Joe Lidister & that woman talking about the story in the SJA attic. Ok some interesting points but they have nothing to do with the story. And the commentary didn't really reflect the story. I would of liked new CGI on Nightmare.

I think Logopolis could do with a re-release. Quality could be improved.

Agreed about that waste of space atick interview. That was annoying to watch, but I kept with it, as I figured that it had to go somewhere... but it didn't. Total and radically dismall investment somehow... me thinks.

There's been a few extras like that recently that have been connecting the original run to the newer episodes. I think there is an extra on one of the upcoming DVDs discussing special effects by having the guy who does it now going through how he would do it with today's Doctor Who budget.

Again, it has nothing really to do with the story other than showing off the new series. Although perhaps this is a sign of something coming, as the RTD era has been flung in with the original run now as the "classic era" perhaps they are planning to release the Eccleston/Tennant stories as classic DVDs with the classic DVD level of quality for special features.
