What do you think of the Dalek movies made in the 1960s? Do you like them? Hate them? Or have you never actually watched them?

I love these movies. They look and sound great. They are just such good fun to watch. I would be seriously happy if they were to be issued on BD. Imagine a 50Gb Hi Def version of these... they would look awesome.

I'd reccomend getting one.
I was in one of our stores today, and they were moving a lot of the DVDs out to make space for a whole bunch of 'new' BD titles (that's where O saw the CE3K). And personally, I can state that the quality of the movie watching experience is so much better.

I love both films.
Back in 1999 my local cinema managed to get some original reels and showed them as a double-bill for a Children In Need (I was in with organising it) and it was great to finally see them as they were originally intended on THE BIG SCREEN...in COLOUR!
The showing managed to fill 3/4 of the of the seats. Not bad for 30+ year old film and at a time where children didn't know what a Dalek was. I kid you not, we had a couple of full-size Daleks at the popcorn stands and the amount of kids that kept asking what they were was quite heartbreaking to hear.
Once the first film had finished for the now unheard of practice of an interval/intermission (some kids thought it was all over and weren't expecting to go back in, bless) they came rushing out to the Daleks outside, pretend shooting them, screaming at them, acting with them and some even hugging them wanting one so much.
Even my girlfriend at the time that wasn't really a fan, enjoyed them both on the big screen and said they were magical, especially the first one, and probably gave me the biggest compliment I've ever heard about the first one, saying it reminding her of the classic The Wizard of Oz film with someone normal being thrust into a fantastical yet eerie world. God, I loved her for that, xx

I'd love to have seen this on the big screen, and well done on getting that organised... pretty impressive.

Yes, I agree it would have been heartbreaking to hear kids ask what a Dalek was. For those of us who grew up with the series they were a constant companion... even when not on screen they were present in other media: comics, novels, toys, annuals... just out of reach, but there they were, watching and waiting. :D

I really envy you seeing them on the silver screen.

(At least your girlfriend knew what a Dalek was, mine has never heard of them... even after giving her son an RC one a couple of years ago. Then again she's not British  )

I decided to watch the first again after reading these points.

This is the closest I've gotten to seeing these at the cinema.
