Reuse of props/costumes.

Post by DalekCheese »

Title.

To kick off, a slave in Destiny of the Daleks seems to be wearing Draconian robes.
“Nicholas [Courtney] was always off his head on goodness-knows-what back then, of course.”
-Jon Pertwee, on the making of The Claws of Axos, speaking 1987.

“Yes, I would occasionally bring in the odd bag of something.”
-Nicholas Courtney, speaking 1994.

Lazurus’s Doohickey is a reuse of the Sanctuary Base 6 prop just trimmed down and repainted.

Literally every Dalek story.

But in all seriousness, Davros in Destiny. Works surprisingly well.

I’d never seen that. Seems obvious now you say it, but never spotted it.

It's quite clever. Enough changed that it feels different. The door is the real giveaway.

The seal of rassilon is reused from Revenge of the Cybermen. It’s actually the deal of the planet of gold people.

Some of the aliens from the rings of akhaten. Specifically thinking of that one which is a hoix with some ood tentacles stuck on to the mask.

Off the top of my head: The Silurian hall in "The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood" is the observation decks from "The End of the World".

And the Silurian consoles and examination plinths are reused as the Shansheeth devices in the SJA's "The Death of the Doctor"

Axons sprayed green = Krynoids, obviously.

I've learned the Special Weapons Dalek prop ("Remembrance") is reused in "Asylum of the Daleks". (But not "Magician's/Witch's"; that was a newly built prop.) If I recall correctly, that is the only new series reuse of a classic Dalek prop.

The Dalek hall in "Magician's/Witch's" is also the base in "Under the Lake/Before the Flood".

The "Dalek Battle Computer" in "Destiny of the Daleks" is also part of the Source Manipulator in "The Keeper of Traken". Relevant to this forum, the toys of both replicate this reuse, and the Source Manipulator seems to reuse the EMP device from the Series 2 Cyberleader, too!

And, if I recall correctly, the initial Matt Smith TARDIS set is a redress/rebuild of the Torchwood hub. One of Jack's desk knick-knacks is definitely reused on the console.

The trap street from face the ravin was redressed just very slightly and then covered in snow for the place the tardis lands in Husbands of River Song.
