Here's an interesting article on Season 24, arguing that in a lot of ways it was a precursor to the modern series in its approach. I'm not sure I agree with all of it, but it's hard to argue with its analysis of the Saward era.

Forgot to add "Colin Baker's Mustache" to the parenthetical thread title.

If you don't have this one, the "Battlefield" re-edit alone is worth the purchase price. The "Fenric" re-edit doubles that.rowie4life wrote: ↑Wed Dec 22, 2021 9:59 pmThe standard release of Doctor Who - The Collection Season 26 is up for pre-order

I've just had the money, for season 26, taken out from Zavvi, so they should be sending it very soon.

Are they different to the alternative edits in the dvd versions?skifflebits wrote: ↑Sat Dec 25, 2021 7:14 pmIf you don't have this one, the "Battlefield" re-edit alone is worth the purchase price. Nope, they're both up-rezed from the DVD versions, so if you own the DVDs, you've essentially got those edits.Deborah J wrote: ↑Sun Jan 09, 2022 3:37 pmAre they different to the alternative edits in the dvd versions?skifflebits wrote: ↑Sat Dec 25, 2021 7:14 pmIf you don't have this one, the "Battlefield" re-edit alone is worth the purchase price. They also included the Fenric VHS omnibus that added about two new scenes because some fans would throw a gargantuan fit if it was left off.

If I remember right, was fenric done as all one big feature length instead of separate episodes? I feel like it would be nice to have the reedit with episode breaks in, it flows better than the broadcast one but I don't always have time to watch it all in one go

Well, the original four-part broadcast version is the lead on the blu-ray set, the others are presented as "extras."Deborah J wrote: ↑Mon Jan 10, 2022 7:57 amIf I remember right, was fenric done as all one big feature length instead of separate episodes?
