I don't think the new 14th Doctor sculpt head sculpt is that bad. It's still recognisable as David Tennant. The face sculpt and the hair are fine but the forehead is, as the guy in the video put it, a bit of a five-head, which throws the whole thing off a bit. Compare the figure to the picture inside the packaging and you'll see what I mean.
Five-head aside, I'd much rather have this sculpt on the 14th Doctor than either of the 10th Doctor heads.

To be fair, his hairline has changed over the years (could even be a wig!)

Always stunned by your work, @Wholords2
I sometimes do fine paint detail, but such tiny, precise work on a three-dimensional object that, I assume, offers a good deal of resistance: Another world, in awe.
Tennant's 50. His hair line's definitely higher in real life (and there's very little low hanging fringe now, unlike the 50th Anniversary). Hope to have as good a head of hair if I get to 50, even if I get called a 5 head.
And we're all critical in some regard (I'm certainly not in the 'positivity Police'), all got our personal tastes (as we've every right to), and some of us are less informed than others (I like to assume I'm at the 'lesser' end myself), but...
With the caveat that I'm not the audience for YouTubers etc, not at all my thing;
I always have the impression, from what I've seen, that negativity is rewarded there like it is across all social media- so bad behaviour's egged on by an audience/crowd like amongst schoolkids. When monetisation and attention is a reward: people play to a vocal crowd of support, even with insincerity in their critique- exaggerating a moaning, whinging 'persona' of 'attack'. And we've encouraged more and more people to think their opinion is fact and critical behaviour is of higher value than enthusiasm, so the popular presentation makes sense; and both 'content' makers and audiences whip each other up with negative emotion. Feels a bit like old-school comedians and their audiences, punching anywhere as long as it's at others. Standard 2023 m.o., sadly.
Dunno- there's obviously a line between genuine criticism and 'hating' for views- and if you pay for something, you get a say- but I don't think I've even got any interest in the genuine criticism on there, personally. It's not like the informed opinions I'd respect on here. It's performance, and not a narrative I'm into.
But, like anybody with a device and a connection nowadays, they can do what they want and my view's of no more significance than theirs.

I'm hating the game, not picking on the player (whoever that is might be lovely for all I know)...JamieBate wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 2:57 pmI almost switched off, just exhausting. It’s the “who signed off on this - better yet who sculpted it??”, like both pieces of information are out there actually - and if you’re not that far into it as to know that sort of thing then maybe don’t rant about it lol. Adding the 2006 head is just being wilfully blind imo lol.

Like the other reviewer who ended with “why?…..just why?…..<sigh>’ when talking about (I think) the recent Davros set, when the ‘complaint’ is - in my mind - so flawed and exaggerated I can not take it seriously I choose to view the videos as a deliberate parody and can get a chuckle out of what is a well acted ott delivery - but then I see that is overlooking what Al and Ed could feel if they saw it. “It was just a joke” is used to try and excuse so much.
At a broader level I think if it’s done in good faith there is a place for criticism in a review of a commercial product, and done right it’s a good balance against the ‘everything is awesome’ reviews of those with a vested interest.
To be fair my exposure to these things is very limited. It tends to only really be the advanced sample reviewers I look as they appear first and I generally pay little attention to the commentary anymore and just skip to close up and 360 views. The other stuff I come across tends to be through word of mouth, e.g, Al named checked them or someone advised (in this case) of a funny head swap. So there may well be some petty bad stuff out there

There has been so much said about this sculpt, whether it looks like him or not, but it really is just down to the paint apps. I repainted it, and even resculpted the hair on mine, and actually made his forehead bigger!

I just got mine in the post today! They travelled thousands of miles to me and they are mine, all mine....will open after work.
Unrelated but related question: is the Gallifrey Base Forum down? I haven't been able to log in for more than a day and its site doesn't open....perhaps the amazing sculpt and beautiful packaging on this CO exclusive blew their servers' minds

Yep, it’s down.
Re: 14th Doctor
My worry is all these criticisms of the head sculpt and/or paint apps might put CO off releasing any new ones and instead they just release figures based on old sculpts that use plain black instead of fancy hair tints and have a lot of their facial features obscured by a plain black moustache and beard…….
…. er…. yea…. it looks nothing like him

Awful as that situation is, it's probably not wise to talk about it more, especially before it's been to trial.
On lighter and more topic fitting news, finally got a dispatch email. I live in Australia, so if it's only just been dispatched now, then it's probably not going to arrive until end of February.
