"In October 2009 there are rumoured to be two waves of figures due, then a further two, and also a set to be released before Xmas. Korwin will feature in the October waves and so will a Tritovore (or two)."

Series 5 packaging is still to be clamshell and the backing card will be yellow. The Series 5 figures are being sculpted now and will be out in June/July 2010."

Sixth Doctor Regenerated

Update 15th June 2009

"An exclusivity contract (possibly again with territorital clauses) has been signed by Underground Toys for a new limited edition Newly Regenerated Sixth Doctor figure release."

"In the harsh economic climate, and with purported 'lack of retailer interest', this strategy is consistent with Character's current approach in cost minimalisation, as this figure is merely a repaint of existing sculpts, The 5th Doctor body and the Sixth Doctor head."

"In interests of cost minimisation, there will be no retooling of the 5th Doctor body sculpt that is used for this figure. Mr Baker's head fits perfectly without the need for body sculpt revision."

Sixth Doctor Regenerated Precisions

"I'd like to add some precisions about the Regenerated Sixth Doctor. It's actually not quite a simple repaint. It's 'dirty' and of course, there's no celery stick on the Doctor's lapel. The paint job gives the figure a dirty look with stains and smears."

New Scale for the Relaunch

"I've heard from well informed people, through my job, that the principle reason for 'clearing the shelves' of Character Doctor Who product is that the 2010 products won't just include a new range of figures for a new season but, in fact, a new range of figures in a new scale ... they're ditching 5.5 inch in favour of 3.75 inch in part to save on the cost of raw materials required to make the line and can therefore produce more vehicles/playsets."

My neighbour's brother's best friend works at Character and has news about upcoming figure plans...

• A Ross Jenkins figure with UNIT Jeep (if this pack is successful more vehicles will be released in the range)
• An Abzorbaloff figure with Ursula slab accessory (there is a possibility of Elton and Mr Skinner as part of a set)
• A mid-regeneration Tenth Doctor (this shows the Doctor's regeneration and will be released shortly after David Tennant's final special)
• Wilfred Mott with telescope
• Classic series companions sets - the two I know about will include: Dodo, Victoria, Liz and Nyssa. The second set will include Tegan, Adric, Mel and Evelyn (The Evelyn figure is a test to see how figures from the audio plays will go down)
• Eric Roberts' Master with liquid snake
• Pigbin Josh is under consideration

New Figures

A set of unpackaged figures including new Character Options Doctor Who Action figures of Bannakaffalatta, Captain Jack without longcoat, Clockwork Man (new version), Holographic 9th Doctor, Korwin and the Old Doctor.

It has yet to be confirmed that, with the exception of the Holographic 9th Doctor, all these figures will be released in 2009, possibly as part of a new 1,2 & 3 Series Wave. The Holographic 9th Doctor, though allegedly displayed at Toy Fair 2008, is not scheduled for release. Caveat emptor...

Jenny & the Brigadier Action Figures

"I managed to get some more information on the Jenny figure. I met Georgia Moffett and she said there is definitely one coming next year sometime. I also spoke to Nicholas Courtney and he said there is definitely a Brigadier figure coming out though I cannot say whether it will be part of the classics range."

Classic Rumours

Character are rumoured to be releasing a box set from the season 18 story State of Decay featuring the 4th Doctor in his burgundy outfit, and the vampire Three Who Rule - Zargo, Camilla and Aukon.

Wave 2 of the classic figure releases are rumoured to have a brief synopsis of each character on the back of the packaging.

Classic Rumours - Wave 2

It is rumored that the Tenth Planet Cyberman is being removed from Wave Two of the Classics to be put in a possible Evolution of the Cybermen boxset to be released next year as a tie in to this years Christmas special. Also the figure that may replace the Cyberman is said to be an Emaciated Master based on his appearence from the Deadly Assassin.

Following Character's recent discussions over whether to continue the Sarah Jane range, they have decided that they will after all continue the figures but are dropping the idea of a Sarah Jane Smith in every pack. The packaging has also been revised and Wave 2 figures will comprise the following twinpacks:

• Luke Smith & Clyde Langer
• Odd Bob with balloon & Rani Chandra

Classic Robots & Deranged Daleks

Character Options are to release a Classic Robot Gift Set containing a Super Voc, a 'Dum' and 2 Voc Robots. The robots will all have unique stickers (not available in standard release - the Super Voc will also have this feature) and some unique accessories including removable corpse markers, Laserson Probes and interchangeable 'damaged' heads.

There are also rumours of a Deranged Dalek Caan - based on the mutant reveal Dalek, it may be available in a 'Journey's End' partner set to the Stolen Earth set.

Statement from Character

The Series 4 and Classic figures have started to be widely distributed, and should be available in most stores by the end of August. The figures will be available from the following stores:

Argos, Boots, Tesco, Forbidden Planet, Fenwicks, Character Online, Galaxy 4, Midco, Bolts Shetland, Muck, Toymaster, Mail Order Express, Toys R Us, Moving Image Toys, LC Toys, Scotts Toybox, Hamleys, BBC Shop, Amazon, Smyths, Who One Ltd, Asda, Woolworths and Sainsbury’s.

The Time Crash set was an exclusive to the San Diego Comic Con and will never be made available in UK stores.

Character's 2009 Marketing Meeting

Character Options have had a recent marketing discussion about 2009

Following this discussion they have decided that there will be one wave of figures for every special episode next year. More figures will be released from past series as well as the classics

Some of the classic figures will include a new version of Dalek and a Third Doctor figure with Silurian. The Special figure for that wave has not been decided as yet. A deluxe Vespiform will be released in an Agatha Christie set. The set will not be called "the Murder Mystery set"; they have no name for the set yet but it will be released in early 2009.

Also due for release are a 12" Donna figure and a 12" Cyberman (new sculpt) from the Christmas Special of 2008.
